Hi all!
March is National Kidney Month, so I’ll be donating all the profits I make on my web shop this month to the PKD Foundation.
If you follow me, you may have seen me do something to raise a little money for the PKD Foundation in the past. Just last September I used Facebook’s new “Donate Your Birthday” function to raise some money for them. It’s a very worthy cause because the PKD Foundation are the only organization in the U.S. solely dedicated to finding treatments and a cure for polycystic kidney disease (PKD) and to improve the lives of those it affects.
This is a disease that personally effects me since I have a family history. Polycystic kidney disease (PKD) is a genetic disease (passed from an affected parent to their child) causing uncontrolled growth of cysts in the kidney eventually leading to kidney failure. It affects all racial and ethnic groups equally. My Grandfather died from it before I was born, my Mother has it and received a transplant, my Aunt has it and received a transplant, and my little sister has it but has yet to require any treatment for it. I could also have it, but so far I haven’t presented any diagnose-able symptoms.
To take advantage of National Kidney Month, I’m going to use me web shop to raise some money for the PKD Foundation by donating my March profits to them. When I say profits, I mean all the money I earn after my expenses for the month. These expenses include a very small transaction fee on each order, and the monthly fee to Big Cartel, $9.99, and Ship Station, $9.00. That’s it. The comic books I sell in my web shop are all comps (complimentary copies) from the publishers, so they cost me nothing.
So check out my web shop, get some signed comic books, and help raise money for a good cause!
