As of last Friday, 3/18/11, IDW has made their Doctor Who comics available digitally through their iTunes app. So if you’ve been wanting to check out any of the Dr. Who comics and you own an iPhone, iPod Touch, or an iPad now is the perfect time. You can digitally purchase the current series, any of the mini series, the Classic reprints, or the one shots (including the one I wrote in 2009). There are a few free issues available too like the first issue of Doctor Who: The Forgotten and the first issue of Doctor Who Classics among others. The Doctor Who comics app is a free download so go check it out!
Since Robert Hack posted a teaser for the black and white version of this cover I thought I would post a similar teaser of the colored version. Extra points if you can guess what this cover is for.
I was going through some of the older things that I had posted on my deviantART and I found this one that I had done for fun back in 2009. The line art was done by Drew Moss and I loved the design so much I had to get the high res from him and color it up.
This image is actually just a single panel from a one page origin that Drew had made. I think the story is quite cute actually, and I love the ending line “She took his name and she helps to keep Gotham safe. She also promises not to eat him.” I know that Stephanie Brown has a growing fandom now, but come on, wouldn’t you love to see this Batgirl come into continuity?
Looking at this image now, several years after coloring it, I’m still mostly pleased with the way it turned out. So I wanted to just go ahead and make a brief blog post and share this with you in case you had missed it back when I originally posted it. I hope you enjoy.
And check out the original page Drew had drawn for this character:

From the feedback I’ve heard from fans it seems that issue 16 of Doctor Who, the final 10th Doctor issue, has been our best received issue yet! Then on Saturday I was linked to a review on Comics Bulletin that seems to confirm it. I’m sure I speak for the rest of Team Who that we’re all thrilled that so many people like how it came out!
