Here lies the first exciting episode of Color Talks! Comic book colorist, Charlie Kirchoff, faces off with comic book colorist, Matt Wilson, in a head to head conversation that will end all conversations on the topic of comic book coloring! Which would make this a very short podcast series. Luckily, the actual episode isn’t nearly as exciting as this description leads you to believe. However, it should be interesting to anyone interested in behind the scenes conversations between comic book colorists.

I just noticed that I had neglected posting this, which shocks me because I loved the way this cover came out.

Yesterday, I admit I was upset that Michael Bay said that the Turtles in his TMNT film are going to be aliens. Then today, while witnessing the continuing fan backlash from that comment, a question occurred to me: Did he actually say they were going to be aliens?

I took a closer look and realized the answer was no, he didn’t say that. What he said was, “These turtles are from an alien race, and they are going to be tough, edgy, funny and completely loveable.” Now, at first glance, it seems that he’s saying they are aliens, but if you pick it apart he says they are “FROM an alien race.” That doesn’t necessarily mean that they are aliens.

With Michael Bay’s reputation at fiddling with established concepts in his films, it’s easy to assume the worse. But I got to thinking, didn’t the mutagenic ooze from the 80s cartoons have unearthly origins? It’s been awhile, but I seem to recall that it was related to Dimension X. So if the mutagen that creates the Turtles is from an alien race, then technically the Turtles are FROM and alien race but not aliens themselves.

I can definitely see Michael Bay wanting to play with the SciFi elements of the Turtles from the 80s cartoon as well as the later comics in the original run instead of going with the street level concept used in the old live action films. So, while it could be possible that he will make them aliens its also possible he’s just playing with concepts from the 80’s cartoon. And the title for the film, according to IMDB, is “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles”. Until one of those words is removed, I’m just going to wait to see before I freak out again.

I should also mention, if there ends up being a big ass Technodrome in this movie, I will squee and give Michael Bay my money. I’ve always wanted to see a live action Technodrome!
