Here lies the first exciting episode of Color Talks! Comic book colorist, Charlie Kirchoff, faces off with comic book colorist, Matt Wilson, in a head to head conversation that will end all conversations on the topic of comic book coloring! Which would make this a very short podcast series. Luckily, the actual episode isn’t nearly as exciting as this description leads you to believe. However, it should be interesting to anyone interested in behind the scenes conversations between comic book colorists.

Hi Charlie,
My name is Juan Fernandez, and I am a freelance colorist (IDW, Dynamite, and Marvel Upperdeck). I just wanted to let you know how much I enjoyed this first episode. I am definitely looking forward to many more. It was very refreshing to hear others with such similar stories and experiences in the field and in their life. Keep up the awesome work man. It helps to listen to something awesome while I’m sitting alone working in my office.
Thanks
Juan
Hey Juan,
Glad you enjoyed it. I hope to be putting out episode 2 around the end of the month, so stay tuned.
Interesting podcast, guys. I’m curious if you’ve had some experiences with software other than photoshop. I’m sort of a colorist too and I really don’t like to work with PS. Actually, I have some kind of a problem with any other program I’ve tried.
Glad you found it interesting. Photoshop is the industry standard, so most colorists use it. I’m not saying its impossible to use anything else, as long as one can prepare a file in a way that a publisher specifies. I also suspect people have used other programs in conjunction with Photoshop in order to achieve a certain effect. I just can’t give specific examples.
Thanks for listening, I hope to be able to put together another episode soon.
I haven’t listened yet, but this is a great idea. Colorists often go unappreciated, and while I’m usually strict on them, it’ll be nice to hear about the process. Thanks for doing this.
Thanks, I hope to be putting out episode two soon. Let me know what you think about this once you’ve had a listen.
