Hey guys, I could use your help in order to maintain my channel’s standing with YouTube. Many of you have probably already heard about the changes they’ve recently announced. If you haven’t, the gist is that they are changing the qualifications for the YouTube Partner Program. Previously, in order to qualify, a channel just needed a lifetime total of 10,000 views. Now they are changing it so that each channel must have a minimum of 1,000 subscribers and a watch time total of 4,000 hours over the last 12 months. These effects go into place on February 20th.
The announcement of these changes and the tight deadline is bad timing for me. I hadn’t uploaded any new videos over the course of 2017, so my subscriber growth has been slow recently and my total watch time hours for the last year is way low. At the beginning of this year, I made plans to really pick up my YouTube activity and I’ve been planning out a lot of new videos that I plan to start recording and post in the next few months. Unfortunately, with these new changes, that’s going to be too little and too late.
I would prefer not to have my channel be downgraded, or if it does I would prefer for it to be a very brief downgrade. Though, if I miss the deadline my channel will have to be reviewed and approved and I’m not sure how difficult that process will be. So, that’s why I’m asking for your help. If you haven’t already subscribed to my Learn 2 Color Comic Books Channel, please click here to do so now. At the time of my posting this, I have 563 subscribers and I need 437 to meet the new requirements. Also, please go through and watch some of the videos on my channel and then share them to your social media accounts and encourage your friends and followers to check them out. If you can do some or all of these things, it would be very helpful.
I normally prefer that all my followers and views happen organically and I hate having to ask for help like this, but YouTube has pushed smaller content creators such as myself into a corner. So, I really appreciate the support. Thank you.
UPDATE: Now that all the discount links are live, I’ll keep them up until the end of the month (Jan ’18) or until they are all claimed, whichever happens first.
Tomorrow, January 24th, is #ColoristAppreciationDay! To celebrate the day, I thought I would make several Flash Offers with discounts on the Learn 2 Color Comic Books Essential Bundle. Basically, throughout the day tomorrow, I’ll be posting links that will get you a huge discount off the course bundle. Each offer will be limited to only a few people, so they could end up being gone in a flash (which is why I’m calling them Flash Offers). If you click on the link for an offer, and it lists the full price and says “Invalid Coupon Code” that means other people have beat you to it. But don’t worry, there will be several chances at grabbing a huge discount! I’ll be posting these offers simultaneously to each of these pages:
Here’s a list of each offer, I’ll update their availability as they are claimed:

Learn 2 Color Retro Comics- Learn how to color art work so that it looks like it was printed in the 80s or earlier.
Now that the Star Trek TNG: Mirror Broken series from IDW has been concluded, I wanted to explain exactly what my involvement was on this series. Yes, I was still coloring art as usual, but it was a distinctly different process than a typical comic book.
Some back information, J.K. Woodward had done painted art for the Free Comic Book Day issue, issue one, and all the covers. However, painting a comic is extremely labor intensive and deadlines on a licensed book like Star Trek can be very tight. So, in order to relieve some of that pressure, J.K. switched to doing ink wash art starting with issue 2 and recommended that I should come on to do the colors.
Since this series had already been established as being painted, I wanted to do my best to keep that look consistent. I’m familiar enough with Adobe Photoshop that I knew I could make J.K.’s ink washes look very close to appearing as if they were still being painted. It may not be an exact match, but close enough that the casual reader wouldn’t find the switch jarring.
Below is a gallery with a brief, step-by-step, explanation of how I treated each page from issue 2-5. Click on each image to enlarge them.
